Today we had a test market. This involved setting up a stall mid-way through the market space. We used beanbags, recycled fabric from the textiles department, and embroidery thread and needles. It was hard to encourage people to sit down and participate, but the people that did found it hard to leave, and sat happily stitching away. It currently meets the ideas of immaterial labour, and ideas of emotion in terms of relaxation, and is also creating a collaborative art piece.
From this test market we learnt a lot and need to be a lot more organised. We need to work out our colour scheme properly and find a way to make our stall seem more like a stall - immersive, decorative, and welcoming.
