These are our group’s concepts for currency (systems of exchange):
Idea One:
Exchange of skill
Example:
Teaching mending skills, or mending, in exchange for a more sustainable culture.
Precedent:
Michael Swaine’s Free “Mending Library” - Swaine offers his services as a tailor, mending whatever clothing the neighborhood's residents bring him for free. This typically happened in the suburbs of need, where people of low-income would come to get their clothes mended. This allowed a growth in community and find comfort in a world where things were typically thrown away.
Idea Two:
Exchange of information
Example:
Word for word - Giving a compliment and receiving a compliment.
Precedent:
Soul Pancake’s compliment swap - Positively-charged production company Soul Pancake set up a booth in the streets challenging passersby to give a compliment, and get a compliment.
This is the team manifesto for our team, we feel this covers all of the issues important to us:
Our group will work within the concept of immaterial labor, which we define as the exchange of tangible and intangible things, outside traditional currency systems, with the exchange acting in place of currency. Our group aims to create a market offering which is worthy of the decided system of exchange, mutually beneficial.
We aim to work positively in a collaborative environment to create our market offering as a group, a cohort, and a market exchange. We want to be enjoyable for us as well as those experiencing the market.
We aim to create an ecologically sustainable and ethical offering. With this, we would want to be able to upcycle or find a reusable option for offerings that might not be used.
Team Wildcats 🙂
