Today we had our second test market. We arrived at 9am to set up, ready to start at 10am (which became 10.15am after a short meeting). Half of our team stayed to man our stall while the other half acted as market participants for other stalls.
We all dressed in pink, and this worked quite well as we were easily identifiable to visitors of our stall.
This is the floor plan of our market as provided by the layout team:
We requested our stall (shown in pink) to be away from loud teams such as joy, and next to quiet teams such as tranquil and enlightenment to ensure our stall has a relaxing and peaceful environment.
When it came to setting up our stall we had a few ideas of how it could work in this corner space: (fabric in pink and beanbags represented in orange)
We decided to go with top right for the test market. However, after discussion we decided it would be really nice to have a more immersive environment and that making a tent/teepee style stall would be worth trying to make for the final market.
We lay out our pink fabric so it draped from the back wall, and attached the needles and thread to the fabric ready for visitors to pick up and use.
We borrowed 9 beanbags from the MAWSA lounge for our stall. We will have to make set arrangements to ensure we can borrow beanbags on the day of our final market.
We also filled out some health and safety forms, which mostly concerned us due to the needles we will be using. We had two students take ladder training as requested to ensure we can use these safely in our set-up next time.
- access to beanbags
- make teepee and sort attachment to roof
- do we want to have music?
- do we want to have cups of tea available to aid the relaxation factor?
- incense?
